ROSE VILLAGE — Ashley Jones, a longtime advocate for Vancouver-area youth and an employee at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, was awarded the 2021 Maytag Dependable Leader Award on Aug. 6. The award is given to only seven employees and volunteers out of 4,700 clubs across the country.

The award includes a $20,000 grant from Maytag that will help support “Ashley’s passion for encouraging young people as they transition from elementary school to middle school and to high school,” according to a news release.

“The grant money will also go toward facilitating tours of the middle school and high school for youth and sharing transportation knowledge so the tight-knit community surrounding the Washington Elementary Club feels confident venturing to the neighborhoods where the middle school and high school are located,” the release noted.
