Letter: Put people to work on infrastructure

Hopefully with the passage of the infrastructure bill, our government could look back at the success of putting people back to work during the Great Depression in the 1930s. With homelessness at an all-time high now and many people still wanting a good job, why not adopt the fundamentals of these work programs to improve our infrastructure?

Most large cities here in the U.S. have a growing problem with homelessness. Most people that I have talked to say they don’t want to be homeless and would love to work. Looking at how our government created tent cities for housing of these CCC and WPA workers could help get people off the streets and working.

Infrastructure work would be around for many years and needed in every area of the U.S. And now that we are not at war with another country, why not put our military expertise of housing a large number of workers to good use? Maybe this effort could help solve more than one problem here in the U.S. How about our political parties working together to help our country?
