Letter: Stand up for health care

By Mike Benefiel, Bremerton

It’s hard to imagine being able to have a happy holiday season when hundreds of thousands of our friends and families are struggling, suffering and yes, actually dying because we have a horrible health care system. Thousands will be going bankrupt and losing their homes due to high health care costs.

Our Legislature can do something. They can stand up for the people against the health care lobby. Yes, it’s a risk to buck the powerful lobby, but people’s lives are at stake. At some point legislators must decide whether they will stand up for the people, or go along with Sen. Annette Cleveland, Rep. Eileen Cody and the health care lobby.

If the Democrats don’t listen to the people, they may lose control of the state government. Do we want the Republicans deciding what health care we get?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
