Letter: Security for Americans, not from them

The construction of a wall on our southern border has been halted by Joe Biden and his administration. The purpose of a border wall is to protect Americans from outside forces wishing to do us harm and to defend our national sovereignty.

Meanwhile, in our nation’s capitol, the so-called people’s city, these same people have built a razor wire fence to protect them from us. It seems the “mostly peaceful protests” finally hit their city and they have been traumatized by it. They are too important to have this happen to them. What’s OK for Portland or Seattle is suddenly called an insurrection when it happens to them. Not only that, National Guardsmen surround the Capitol to keep its occupants safe from us. Am I the only person in Clark County who finds this dangerous for our democracy?

The troops need to be released from the Capitol immediately and the razor wall needs to be taken down. Send the troops to the southern border so they can protect all Americans and not just the swamp-dwelling elites who think they are better, smarter and more deserving than the rest of us.
