The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington has opened applications for its 2021 Focus Grant program.

Nonprofit groups and other eligible organizations working to disrupt the cycle of intergenerational poverty in Clark, Cowlitz or Skamania counties are encouraged to apply.

Deadline for proposals is March 31. Criteria and applications are available online at www.cfsww.org/grants.

The Community Foundation announced on Thursday that it awarded $1,028,394 to 46 organizations in 2020.

Awards of $25,000 went to Clark County Latino Youth Leadership Conference, Council for the Homeless, Janus Youth Programs, Odyssey World International Education Services, Outsiders Inn, REACH Community Development, The Noble Foundation and the Washington State University Foundation.

Other grants included: $20,000 to Milagro Theater, $15,000 to the Police Activities League, $10,290 to League of United Latin American Citizens and $5,000 to Evergreen Habitat for Humanity.

Esra Kahlil, program officer at the Community Foundation, said in a news release that proposals reflected a host of growing needs and widespread disparities brought to the forefront by the COVID-19 pandemic.
