Letter: Legacy is model for vaccines

After almost five hours on hold, my call to the COVID-19 vaccine hotline was answered. No available appointments of course, but the nice lady who answered offered to put me and my wife on the Clark County waiting list.

Nine days later we received emails from Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center confirming our eligibility for the vaccine (both 73 with other conditions). We filled in our information, selected a date and time on the schedule, and hit send. Within 15 minutes we received confirmation emails with directions and instructions for our appointment. Two days prior we received reminder phone calls.

At the hospital vaccine reception area we were screened with a temperature check and normal COVID-19 questions. We had barely sat down in a spaced waiting area when we were taken up to the vaccine area, given our vaccines, and monitored for 15 minutes against vaccine reactions. On our way out, another lady scheduled our second shots. This entire process, from arriving to leaving, barely took half an hour.

Every single Legacy person involved, staff or volunteers, was welcoming, warm, reassuring, caring and totally professional. Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center should be the national model for how this process should work. Our heartfelt thanks to these heroes!
