Lincoln Victor, who led Union High to the Class 4A state title in 2018, announced Sunday he will continue his football career at Washington State.

Victor chose to leave the University of Hawai’i last month after finishing his second season in Honolulu. Sunday, he announced his next step on social media.

“”First and foremost I would like to thank my family for supporting me through this process and continuing to sacrifice in order for me to live out my dreams,” Victor wrote. “I appreciate each and every person who has helped me along my journey. Special thanks to every program who has come in contact with me. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity and relationship we have developed over time.”

Victor will be reunited with head coach Nick Rolovich, who recruited Victor to Hawaii and coached him as a freshman.

That season, Victor made an instant impact in Rolovich’s run-and-shoot offense. He played in 12 games, scoring three touchdowns, catching 10 passes and handling kickoff return duties.

But after Rolovich left to coach WSU, Victor saw his role decrease in new coach Todd Graham’s system. He played in five of Hawai’i’s eight games, recording just two catches.

That and the stress of navigating sports and studies in a pandemic had Victor reassessing his options. He informed Hawai’i of his decision to leave after the team’s final regular season game on Dec. 12.

Victor was a star at Union for three years, quarterbacking the Titans to the 4A Greater St. Helens League title in 2017.

That was a prelude to a stellar 2018 season. Victor threw for more than 2,500 yards and 26 touchdown passes while rushing for 10 TDs and nearly 800 yards.

Union went 14-0, beating Lake Stevens 52-20 to win the school’s first state championship. Victor was named Associated Press state player of the year and Columbian All-Region player of the year.
