Letter: Get vaccines to people

Every time any health care or public official is asked why the COVID-19 vaccine rollout is so slow, they give excuses: “It’s CDC’s fault,” “We need to train people,” “It is difficult to store,” “Our shipment arrived over the holiday,” “We don’t have enough people,” “We have to get certain groups vaccinated first,” blah, blah, blah.

And doses sit unused on the shelf for weeks! People, this is not something we haven’t done before. You can go to any pharmacy, clinic or health care office and get vaccinated for flu, MMR, HPV, shingles, or pneumonia on demand any time you want. But for some reason, all that training and experience and logistical process cannot be used for the COVID vaccine. Bah! We have an existing trained and ready distribution system. Instead of trying to create something new, use what we have and do it now. Not weeks from now. Quit telling us why you can’t get the vaccination out to people. Tell us why you can.
