Letter: Kudos to Herrera Beutler

I really want to lift up Rep. Herrera Beutler’s vote in favor of impeachment. In this divided political environment, it takes bravery to oppose the prevailing view of one’s own party. While I haven’t been her biggest fan these past few years and I wish she’d stood up to the president sooner, she deserves kudos for taking part in the most bipartisan impeachment in American history and making an important rebuke of a dangerously unpredictable demagogue.

Hopefully more politicians follow her example of fighting for the truth, even when the truth is politically inconvenient.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
