Letter: Accountability needed for president

By Robert Stevens, Vancouver
Published: January 18, 2021, 6:00am

So now to our “Republican” leaders, are you proud of your “Boys”? Hard to think of them any other way.

Contrast what happened Jan. 6 to President Hoover’s response to veterans of World War I peacefully camped on the National Mall, seeking early payment of their veterans’ benefits in order to provide for their families during the last Great Depression. Remember? President Hoover sent federal troops under the command of Army Chief of Staff Douglas MacArthur to forcefully drive them out of the capital.

These events show two the sides of the Republican coin as cast in the Trump era. The president and his enablers have stolen trillions and killed millions. It is time for accounting, legal redress and to continue the struggle for government of, by and for all people, and equality and justice for all.

There will be redress in fair elections to follow.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
