The Hulu series, “Shrill,” which is set and filmed in Portland, will end with the show’s upcoming Season 3, according to a story in the Hollywood Reporter. The comedy, which stars Aidy Bryant of “Saturday Night Live,” is inspired by Seattle-based writer Lindy West’s memoir, “Shrill: Notes From a Loud Woman.”

The Hollywood Reporter story includes a statement from Bryant, which reads: “‘Shrill’ has been one of the most creatively satisfying experiences of my life, a true labor of love for me and everyone who worked so hard on it.”

The statement goes on to say: “We are incredibly proud of this upcoming third and final season and are so grateful to the audience who connected with this story. I am deeply honored to have worked so closely with the writers, cast and crew to make ‘Shrill’ while continuing my work at ‘SNL,’ it is a time I will never forget. I have endless love for our crew in Portland and I am excited to get back to NY and rejoin my other work family at ‘SNL’ in the meantime.”

Filming is completed on Season 3 of “Shrill,” and the series is expected to return to Hulu sometime this spring. In its first two seasons, the series has followed Annie (Bryant), a writer who’s working to find her voice, while also figuring out her relationships with her family, friends and coworkers.

In addition to Bryant, the show’s cast includes John Cameron Mitchell, as the editor of an alternative weekly and Lolly Adefope as Annie’s housemate. One of the show’s executive producers, Lorne Michaels, is also the executive producer behind “Saturday Night Live” and was an executive producer of “Portlandia,” the Rose City-filmed satirical series which ran for eight seasons on IFC.

“Shrill” is only available to stream on Hulu, which offers a free trial.
