Port of Vancouver to develop its Climate Action Plan

The Port of Vancouver’s Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to authorize CEO Julianna Marler to develop and implement the port’s Climate Action Plan, which will guide port staff’s efforts to reduce the port’s greenhouse gas emissions.

The commission included the development of a Climate Action Plan in a strategic plan adopted in late 2018. The climate plan has been in development since late last year, based in part on an inventory of the port’s 2019 greenhouse gas emissions.

Staff presented the framework and initiatives of the plan to the commission at a meeting in June and at Tuesday’s meeting. A final Climate Action Plan document will be publicly available later this summer, according to a press release from the port
