Letter: Kudos to planning commission

I wanted to take this opportunity to express how impressed I am with the Vancouver Planning Commission’s process regarding the recent Vancouver Innovation Center’s rezone and master plan approval. The inclusion of so many involved parties: developers, contractors, lawyers, Parks and Recreation, Urban Forestry, transportation, city planners, and community input made for a complicated process that involved a balancing act equal to that of a Cirque du Soleil performance and one worthy of a standing ovation for the Vancouver Planning Commission.

This volunteer committee showed great insight and knowledge during the entire process. As a homeowner living adjacent to the property I felt that not just my concerns but the surrounding community’s concerns were being heard, acknowledged, and addressed, and for that I am truly grateful. As a member of the Vancouver Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, I felt they did an exceptional job of listening to our advice, concerns and suggestions.

It has been quite exciting to be part of this process. I hope you will join me in applauding the Vancouver Planning Commission for their continued hard work and diligence as they strive to make Vancouver a great place to live and work.
