Let’s hear from your friends and neighbors how much rain fell in June: Rob Starr, Cougar, 2.80 inches; Robin Ruzek, Lake Shore, 1.75 inches; Larry Lebsack, Barberton, 2.46 inches; Jim Knoll, Five Corners, 1.73 inches; Chuck Houghten, Hockinson Heights, 2.17 inches; Judy Weber near Fargher Lake/View area, 2.80 inches; Tyler Mode, Battle Ground, 2.25 inches; Judy Darke, Felida, 1.47 inches; Bob Mode, Minnehaha, 1.61 inches; Irv St. Germain, Prune Hill, 1.71 inches; Rick Krahn, Camas, 1.60 inches; Ellen Smart, Ridgefield, 2.40 inches; Dick Lenahan, Meadow Glade, 1.84 inches; and William Sobolewski, Livingston Mountain, 1.97 inches. Our neighbor in Vancouver, B.C., Roland Derksen, recorded 1.83 inches. The official rainfall for Vancouver was 1.47 inches — .14 of an inch below average.

Last month’s rainfall was roughly twice what we got in May. June saw early rainy weather and then record-breaking heat.

Judy Weber noted that June had a temperature spread of 71 degrees: a low of 39 degrees to a high of 110.

This week is when some meteorologists place the “gone fishing” sign on their office door and leave town. It’s just the same thing each day: sunny, with highs in the 80s.

We had some good weather the past couple of days for wildfire fighters, with higher humidity and cooler temperatures. However, this week east of the mountains it pops back up to the 90s, and humidity levels drop. Winds may be dry and gusty. Not a good picture by any means.
