The Vancouver Victory women’s soccer team clinched the Northwest Premier League title on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Blackhills FC from Olympia at Harmony Sports Complex in Vancouver.

Maddie Goss, a Union High School grad, had a goal and an assist, and goalkeeper Chantal Reyes helped preserve the shutout.

It is the second championship for the Vancouver Victory/Washington Timbers. They won the title in 2017 while playing as the Timbers.

Rachel Anderson scored the first goal for Vancouver in the 14th minute on Goss’ assist.

It would remain a one-goal game until Mary Swisher made it 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the second half off a second assist from Goss.

Goss scored her goal in the 65th minute of an assist from Makayla Roggow. Then Roggow scored in the 75th to cement the victory.

Vancouver finished the four team, six game season with a 5-1-0 record and 15 points, three points ahead of second place Yakima United. Blackhills (3-3-0) finished in third place.

THORNS 1, DASH 0 — Portland’s Sophia Smith scored 32 seconds into the match at Houston as the Thorns (7-3-1, 22 points) maintained first place in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Smith faked a shot where she was able to get around a defender inside the box as her shot went just past the diving goalkeeper to the left side of the net.

Portland is unbeaten in its last 11 regular-season meetings with Houston (9-0-2), the second-longest unbeaten streak the Thorns have ever had against a single opponent behind the club’s current 18-game regular-season unbeaten streak against Chicago.

With the shutout, Portland has now only conceded three goals in its last eight games with six shutouts.
