ESTHER SHORT — A local LGBTQ social group called the VancouBears held its annual Tea Dance event July 10 at Heathen Brewing Feral Public House to celebrate Pride Month in Vancouver.

Pride Month, typically held around the world in June, celebrates LGBTQ groups.

Ursabomb, an ’80s cover band, performed while the group collected funds to aid the Bonnie J. Tinker Scholarship Fund. VancouBears collected $2,500 throughout the evening, and Heathen Brewing provided a 10 percent donation from all items sold during the event.

VancouBears is a local social group run by Oscar Andrino, Dan Crane, Brian Emerson and Kayne Young that focuses on growing the community by holding smaller events a few times a month in the Vancouver, Camas, Washougal and Ridgefield areas. Find them on Facebook by searching for VancouBears.
