Letter: City prioritizes climate issues

In the view of The Columbian’s editors, Vancouver City Council’s recent move to postpone the waterfront development amounted to “changing the rules in the middle of the game” (In Our View, June 10).

In my view, this decision to postpone demonstrates that our city leaders are prioritizing climate concerns over short-term development. I applaud the city council for taking this longer view. For months, our city’s leaders have been formulating a thoughtful and comprehensive climate strategy, which is evolving over time (see 21 06 08 PC Presentation Climate Strategy).

Thank you, Madam Mayor and city councilors, for working toward a more livable Vancouver for our future.
