The city of Vancouver will begin paving Columbia Street from Mill Plain Boulevard to 45th Street starting on Monday.

Work will start at the traffic circle at 24th Street, where contractor Granite Construction will remove the circle, repair the underlying road and grind the top few inches of existing pavement. The area will be paved with hot mix asphalt within three to seven days after that work is completed.

Repaving work on the rest of the roadway is scheduled to begin June 28 and conclude around mid-July. After paving, six speed tables will be installed along the corridor to help slow traffic.

Once paving and microsurfacing are completed, Columbia Street will be restriped with separate lanes for cyclists and vehicles.
