The office of Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Washington, announced Tuesday that Washington airports will be awarded a combined total of more than $217 million from the Airport Rescue Grants Program, which was created as part of the American Rescue Plan Act passed by Congress in March and is intended to help out airports that took a financial hit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 80 percent of Washington’s grant funding will go to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, but 56 other airports are also lined up to receive smaller grants of varying sizes, according to a press release from Cantwell’s office. Pearson Field in Vancouver and Grove Field in Camas are each set to receive $32,000.
