Body cameras should be required, and no-knock warrants and chokeholds need to be forbidden. Some other reform possibilities have not been explored. I suggest an extended background check for all present and future officers. This should include, among other things:
• All social media accounts
• Credit report
• Psychological evaluation, including Harvard Project Implicit Association Test.
A neutral commission should review the results of the findings and have a personal interview, as well as reviews for present employees every two years. Personnel records should be open for their two-year review by the commission.
This might be costly, but money well spent in light of today’s issues regarding police and citizens.
