Letter: Woody’s is worth saving

By Carrie Ross, Vancouver
Published: March 18, 2021, 6:00am

The Holzinger family invested much in their workers and in revitalizing downtown Vancouver during the pandemic. They did all they could to keep money in their employees’ pockets. A tragedy has struck that might cause them to lose all their investments in downtown. We mustn’t let this happen.

Woody’s is a locally owned restaurant. This is someone in our community who has given much to this community. Let’s give back to one of our own who’s in need. “Spending locally” has been a mantra for a while, because if we don’t, it could very well be an outsider who might move in next or, worse, a chain. Perhaps the city could spare $40,000 to $50,000 of that $32,610,000 it will receive just for this purpose?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
