Letter: Work to clean streams, trails

By Taylor Quigley, Vancouver
Published: March 20, 2021, 6:00am

I feel very strongly about cleaning up our trails here in Vancouver. It is a shame that we have programs to clean up our highways but not our streams and trails. Two times a week I go down to Burnt Bridge Creek near Vancouver Lake and pull out easily 15 pounds of trash every time. I think we need to create an incentive program of some kind to get more people open to cleaning up our trails and waterways. If we can’t use tax dollars, then we need to at least create an incentive for people to contribute, whether that is discounts at local restaurants, discounts on utilities or water bills, etc. The list could go on.

I would love to see this city get ahead of the problem, and I am more than happy to help.
