Clark County records four new COVID-19 deaths, 39 new cases on TuesdayFree

Clark County recorded four new deaths from COVID-19 and 39 new cases Tuesday as the county’s infection rate rose slightly in data from Clark County Public Health.

The fatalities were a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s and two men age 80 or older, according to Public Health. All four had underlying health conditions.

The deaths bring the county’s total to 241 deaths to date. There have been five deaths recorded so far this week. Seven deaths were recorded last week. Deaths are added to the county total about 10 to 12 days after they occur.

The new cases put Clark County’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 19,093. There has been an average of about 37 new cases a day reported since Friday, up from an average of about 34 cases a day reported in the previous two weeks.

The increased case count was reflected in the county’s infection rate, which rose to 90.5 new cases per 100,000 population over 14 days as of Monday, up from a rate of 88.8 new cases per 100,000 over 14 days the week before. The rate is still considered in the “moderate” range and is well below a peak rate of 473.7 new cases per 100,000 population over 14 days during the winter’s surge.

There were 275 active COVID-19 cases still in their isolation period as of Tuesday, up from 270 on Monday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations were unchanged, with 19 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and three people hospitalized awaiting test results, according to Public Health data.
