The tower crane on a Waterfront Vancouver apartment complex, The Columbia, came down on Friday, bringing the project a step closer to its November opening date.

Located at Block 20, 111 W. Columbia Way, The Columbia Apartments is still wrapped in its bright blue weatherproof material. It’s centered around an outdoor infinity pool with views of the Columbia River, and it will be the largest apartment complex at the waterfront area. The Columbia will have 248 apartments; the next largest, RiverWest, has 207 apartments.

Pre-leasing for the apartments begins in the second week of April, and the first move-ins will start in July, said Chad Bungcayao, vice president of acquisitions and dispositions for Jackson Square Properties, the developer of the project.

“We have had a lot of inquiries on our website, but we have not started leasing units as we do not yet have a firm date yet,” Bungcayao wrote in an email to The Columbian. “We will start accepting applications in about 2 weeks.”

The building offers studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, according to its website. It’s not clear how much the rent will be, and Bungcayao did not offer the prices. The building also has no ground-floor retail spaces for businesses.

The project broke ground in October 2019, and developers were hoping for a completion date of early July.
