Prep highlights: Camas volleyball fends off Kelso

Emmy Hansen had 18 kills, 17 service points and 11 digs as the Camas volleyball clinched the best record in the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League with a 3-2 win over visiting Kelso.

The Papermakers won 21-25, 25-23, 26-28, 25-13, 15-13 to improve to 10-1 on the season.

Sydney Moltrum had 55 assists and six digs, Grace Varsek had 15 kills and seven digs and Delaney Clark added 13 kills.

Camas wraps up its season Thursday against Union.

Kelso fell to 9-3 with all three losses coming to Camas.

Stars of the day

• Avalon Watkins, Skyview volleyball, has 26 assists, six digs and one ace as the Storm beat Heritage 3-0.

• Rachel Frazier, Prairie volleyball, has 12 assists, six kills, seven digs, three blocks and three aces as Prairie beat Evergreen 3-0.

• Sam Boyle, Columbia River baseball, went 2 for 4 with two runs, three RBI and pitched 2.1 solid innings as River beat Hockinson 13-3.

• Stephen Hammergren, Mark Morris baseball, pitched seven innings, giving up two earned runs, while striking out six and he also drove in the go-ahead run in the fifth with a sacrfice fly as the Monarchs beat Washougal 3-2.

• Mark Morales, Woodland baseball, went 1 for 2 with two runs, double and RBI and scored the winning run on an error in the bottom of the seventh as the Beavers won the opener of doubleheader with Hudson’s Bay 12-11.

• Duke Beamer, Hudson’s Bay baseball, went 2 for 4 with two runs, a double and an RBI as Bay won the nightcap with Woodland 12-7.

• Cameron Givvens, Columbia River boys soccer, had five saves in goal as River beat Woodland 2-1.

• Evan Hernandez, King’s Way Christian boys soccer, had five saves in goal, then saved three more during a penalty kick shootout that the Knights won 4-2 after a 1-1 tie with Columbia-White Salmon.

• Brig Griffin, Washougal boys track and field, won the 100 meters (12.03 seconds), 200 (23.77) and high jump (5-2) at a three-team meet at Hudson’s Bay.

• J’Quan Collins, Fort Vancouver boys track and field, won the 300 hurdles (46.04), long jump (17-4) and triple jump (37-5) as the Trappers lost to Mark Morris.

• Lucy George, Woodland girls track and field, won the 100 hurdles (15.72), javelin (111-7), long jump (16-10) and high jump (5-6) as the Beavers won a meet at R.A. Long.
