Letter: Removing dams doesn’t make sense

Breaching the dams, with the concurrent loss of power generation and ease of water distribution for crop irrigation and flood control, does not make sense to me. If facilitating spawning salmon runs is truly the object (with no other ulterior motives), wouldn’t it make more sense to simply build fish ladders adjacent to the dams? Not to mention being significantly less expensive.
