Police are searching for suspects after a group committed a series of robberies, thefts and vandalism over four hours Monday throughout Southeast Portland.

Investigators believe the group consists of at least four men and one woman ranging in age from mid- to late teens.

The spree began in the Montavilla neighborhood about 3 p.m., where they spread out and stole from a convenience store in the 9100 block of Southeast Division Street. They pushed an employee out of their way as they left.

A few minutes later, the group entered a restaurant in the 8700 block of Division, loudly yelled at staff and caused a distraction while one stole the tip jar.

By 3:45 p.m., the group entered a salon in the 8200 block of Division, threw products from shelves and table tops onto the floor, and stole items from an “employee only” area. One tried to steal a purse from a customer, police said in a news release.

About 4:15 p.m., the group approached a person parking a car in the 2700 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood. They surrounded the car and approached the driver, demanding money, and then stole property from inside the car.

The group then pulled a driver out of a car in a parking lot in the 5200 block of 82nd in the Foster-Powell neighborhood, and stole the car. A photo released by police shows a silver Honda sedan.

The group was driving the stolen car in the area of Southeast 86th Avenue and Southeast Bush Street in the Lents Neighborhood about 7:30 p.m. when they attempted to steal another car.

Investigators believe others may have been victims of the crime spree but have not reported the incident.
