Fishing report, May 24

Fishing reports for waters in southwest Washington, including the Columbia River and tributaries as reported to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife on May 24.

Always check the WDFW website at wdfw.wa.gov/fishing for the latest fishing rules and regulations as seasons can change or close quickly if necessary.

Fishery reports

Columbia River mainstem

Salmon/Steelhead

Bonneville — 304 bank anglers kept 26 Chinook, six jacks and released seven Chinook and one steelhead; 12 boats/28 rods kept six Chinook, one jack and released one Chinook.

Camas/Washougal — Five boats/10 rods had no catch.

Vancouver — 42 bank anglers had no catch; 33 boats/75 rods kept eight Chinook, one jack and released two Chinook.

Woodland — 20 bank anglers had no catch; eight boats/21 rods kept two Chinook and one jack.

Kalama — 28 bank anglers had no catch; 33 boats/76 rods kept six Chinook and released five Chinook.

Longview — 72 bank anglers kept four steelhead; 43 boats/81 rods kept four Chinook and released three Chinook.

Cathlamet (Sec. 9) — 18 bank anglers kept one Chinook; four boats/eight rods kept two Chinook.

Cathlamet (Sec.10) — 16 bank anglers had no catch; 30 boats/77 rods had no catch.

Sturgeon

Kalama — One boat/two rods released three legal, nine sublegal and three oversize sturgeon.

Cathlamet/ Deep R./ Chinook — 30 bank anglers released one oversize sturgeon; 187 boats/524 rods kept 28 legal sturgeon and released two legal, 55 sublegal and 55 oversize sturgeon.

Shad

Woodland — Two boats/two rods kept 17 shad.

Kalama — Two boats/four rods kept three shad and released two shad.

Columbia River tributaries

Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River from Interstate-5 Bridge downstream — 32 bank rods released one Chinook; one boat/four rods had no catch.

Above the I-5 Bridge — Four bank rods released four Chinook; two boats/six rods released one jack.

Kalama River — Eight bank rods had no catch.

Wind River — Three bank rods had no catch; Five boats/11 rods kept three Chinook and one jack.

Drano Lake — Two bank rods had no catch; 39 boats/79 rods kept 26 Chinook, one jack and released three Chinook.

Klickitat River — 11 bank rods released one Chinook.

Recent trout plants

Horsethief Lake, May 18 — 3,013 rainbow, 2.49 fish per pound from Goldendale Hatchery.

Battle Ground Lake, May 19 — 3,013 rainbow, 2.46 fish per pound from Goldendale Hatchery.

Swift Reservoir, May 24 — 42,500 rainbow, 2.67 fish per pound from Speelyai Hatchery.

Swift Power Canal, May 24 — 2,500 rainbow, 2.67 fish per pound from Speelyai Hatchery.
