A woman was killed Tuesday morning when the car she was riding in crashed into a tree southeast of Battle Ground, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and EMS personnel responded around 2:30 a.m. to the 21500 block of Northeast Risto Road. Paramedics helped three occupants of a red Mazda. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and two men were extricated from the car and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Deputies determined the car was speeding when it left the road and hit the tree, according to the sheriff’s office. The agency is still investigating.

The sheriff’s office has not released the names of the people involved because notification of next of kin has not been completed, according to the news release.

Risto Road was closed for seven hours, delaying commuter and school bus traffic later in the morning, but has since reopened, the agency said.
