A Vancouver man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of first-degree assault after allegedly beating a man in east Vancouver. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition.
Court records identify the suspect as 38-year-old Alexander Matusak.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded just before 11 p.m. Friday to the 2700 block of Northeast 166th Place. A neighbor reported that the man who lives at the house was assaulting his friend, according to a probable cause affidavit.
A deputy arrived to find a man “badly beaten” with what appeared to be a broken nose, swollen eyes and blood on his face, court records state. The deputy said it appeared the man was punched and kicked in the head. He was unable to speak with deputies because of his injuries, the affidavit states.
The woman who lived at the house refused to talk to deputies and denied knowing the victim, according to court records. Deputies also said the woman claimed no other adults were home.
