Cade Warren scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Monarchs rallied to remain undefeated in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Trailing 14-6 at halftime, Mark Morris took a 20-14 lead on Warren’s 6-yard touchdown run with 8-18 to play at Kiggins Bowl.

Warren then caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Desbiens, putting the Monarchs up 27-14 with 1:28 to play.

Hudson’s Bay pulled within 27-21 in the final seconds when Dean Castillo found Kayden Gonzales for a 22-yard touchdown pass. But the Monarchs recovered an onside kick to improve to 3-0 in the 2A GSHL and 3-2 overall.

Hudson’s Bay scored on the second play from scrimmage. Justice Faylim scooped up a fumbled pitch in the Monarchs backfield and ran 20 yards for a touchdown.

Mateo Varona gave the Eagles a 14-6 lead on a 9-yard touchdown run shortly after a 30-yard punt return in which he broke four tackles.

But Mark Morris churned out yards on the ground and took advantage of numerous Hudson’s Bay penalties. Eight Monarchs rushed for 171 yards, led by Jaden Anderson with 61 yards on 14 carries.

Hudson’s Bay (0-4, 0-3) was held to 177 yards of offense.
