Letter: Vancouver needs arts center

Many of my friends and I have been subscribers and supporters of the Vancouver Symphony for years. But now it is difficult to continue, if we have to go to Portland to enjoy it. But we would like to say “thank you Portland” for providing a venue for it so it could perform its first live symphony of the season.

Wouldn’t it be even nicer if we could say “Thank you Vancouver” for providing an arts center? It’s an idea that has been talked about for as long as I have lived here, and that is 24 years. One would think with all the building going on here this would be a priority. But it seems like it might turn out to be like the Interstate 5 Bridge project: Lots of talk and no action.

Sure hope not.
