Letter: Support infrastructure package

Do the right thing! I’m writing to urge Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler to put our needs and hopes above Republican Party partisanship. Vote “Yes” on President Biden’s infrastructure package so we can gain thousands of new jobs along with the technology designed to grow our economy now, plus in the future.

Washington state stands to gain billions of dollars in federal funds and that is a rare opportunity to meet critically needed infrastructure in Vancouver, our district, and our state.

The infrastructure package is also life-changing because it includes funding for extended child tax credit, universal pre-K, paid family leave, child care programs, community college, Medicare expansion with vision, dental and hearing, and climate change provisions.

Also important: the middle class will not pay for this package. It is paid over a 10-year period by corporations who now pay little or no taxes, along with individuals making greater than $400,000 a year.

We must have our state’s needs met along with these life-changing funds to help families, students, and folks on Medicare. Congresswoman, do the right thing: meet our needs by voting “Yes” on the president’s infrastructure package!
