The Portland Thorns beat the Houston Dash 1-0 on the road, clinching the NWSL Shield trophy given to the league’s top team in the regular season.

Lindsey Horan scored in the 43rd minute. It was the midfielder’s 25th goal with Portland, just the third player to reach that milestone with the Thorns.

The win also made Mike Parson the winningest coach in NWSL history with 82 victories.

The Thorns notched their 12th shutout of the season, a club record. Portland also tied a club record with its sixth road win.

Portland (13-6-4) will receive a first-round bye, then host a semifinal match in the NWSL playoffs. The Thorns wrap up the regular season Oct. 30 at home against North Carolina.
