A Vancouver ballet group, Folklórico, is hosting a free Day of the Dead event on Oct. 30 to remember, celebrate and honor those who have died.

Luminaria Día de Muertos participants will experience holiday traditions, such as a procession of offerings and a visit from La Catrina, and dance performances from Folklórico. The event is open to all ages and is also meant to serve as a space for healing for those who experienced loss during the pandemic.

The commemoration will be held outdoors at Esther Short Park from 5-8 p.m. and will occur rain or shine. More information can be found at www.cityofvancouver.us/Luminaria.
