SEATTLE — Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $194 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Seattle-based company said it had profit of $1.53. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.47 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.29 per share.
The airline posted revenue of $1.95 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.93 billion.
Alaska Air shares have climbed 10% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 43% in the last 12 months.
