2A GSHL football: Ridgefield 47, Woodland 14

The Spudders put an exclamation point on an undefeated regular season with a drubbing of the Woodland Beavers in a 2A Greater St. Helens League football game Friday at Ridgefield High School.

With the win, Ridgefield (7-0 in league play, 9-0 overall) wrapped up the league title outright, ending Hockinson’s seven-year run as league champs.

Woodland held its own early in the contest. After Ridgefield scored a touchdown to open the scoring the Beavers responded with a 16-play, 68-yard touchdown drive of their own to tie the game at seven in the early stages of the second quarter.

From that point, Ridgefield scored the game’s next 40 points to pull away. Logan DeBeaumont threw three touchdown passes during that stretch, one each to Ty Snider, Ryan Hoogkirk and Jakob Braunstein.

DeBeaumont ended up with 157 yards passing, 145 of which came in the first half. Davis Pankow added two touchdowns on the ground for the Spudders. Senior lineman Jackson Kelly (six-yard fumble return) and junior wide receiver Isaiah Cowley (66-yard run) also scored touchdowns for Ridgefield.

Dalton Beassie caught two touchdown passes for Woodland, who finished its season with a 2-6 record in league play and a 2-7 mark overall. The future looks promising for the Beavers as they lose just eight seniors to graduation.
