Some Ziply Fiber customers in east Clark County and parts of Oregon have been without Internet service and phone since Saturday when a fiber cable was cut.

According to an email from Ziply, a networking provider working in Gresham and Beaverton, Ore., severed a number of underground cables, including fiber lines that deliver internet and voice services. About 1,500 business and residential customers were affected by the outages. There is no estimate when service will be restored.

“While we do not currently have an estimate on when services will be restored, Ziply has been supporting this provider, including offering our local team to assist in the repair,” Ryan Luckin, vice president of marketing and communications, said in an email on Monday. “Our networking team will continue working around the clock with the network provider to ensure they repair the fiber supporting Ziply customers as fast as possible.”

Ziply took over nearly half a million residential and business customers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana in a $1.35 billion deal with Frontier Communications that closed in May 2020.

Last week, about 300 Ziply landline customers in Coquile, Ore., were unable to call 911 for about 24 hours.

Ziply is based in Everett but also has offices in Kirkland, Beaverton, Ore., and Hayden, Idaho.
