Letter: Recycling their story

Waste Connections says, “Please, let us have it.” Please, people, don’t!

By that I don’t mean to not recycle. We are very diligent about our recycling. That is why we signed up for Ridwell as soon as it was available, as did many of our neighbors. They do a wonderful job, are prompt and courteous, and give us a prompt follow-up text to let us know what they picked up that day! For us, every other Tuesday.

Waste Connections has been telling us for year that “we can’t recycle that,” “we can’t recycle this…” until competition showed up on the scene. Now all of a sudden they can pick up these various items such as clamshells, block foam, electronics, plastic film, etc. Not only did they come way late to the party, they are undermining Ridwell with lower prices! They should be embarrassed and apologize to their yearslong regular pickup customers, like we really have had another option.

I am asking that you do not sign up for Waste Connections and support the original partner in recycling in our neighborhoods, Ridwell! What’s a couple of extra dollars a month to support the original partner, as opposed to the gorilla on the block who is simply a copycat?

Thank you for recycling!
