Letter: Choice to get a shot is easy

I’m really confused about the latest idea of refusing to get a vaccination and forfeiting your job. I wrote a comment to The Columbian a few years ago where I explained unemployment to people that were starving after a week of a government shutdown. Now people think they are willing to quit their jobs and lose their paycheck plus benefits for their families to not get a free shot.

Now they say there will be labor shortages because no one will be able to fill those jobs. Good thing we will have all those people available who were getting rich off that extra $300 unemployment handout that ended recently. All the people who lost their mortgage relief recently might also be motivated to take your job because they chose to get a free vaccination.

Who will pay your bills with no money coming in while you wait out all the lawsuits? For your family’s sake, I hope you don’t get COVID-19 and die alone on a cot in a tent in a parking lot while you’re waiting.

Too much reality?
