The Vancouver Police Department is reminding people to be vigilant after an increase in purse snatchings in the past week.

Police have responded to purse snatchings near the waterfront and in parking lots of shopping centers in west Vancouver, according to the department’s Twitter. Police say a man grabs someone’s purse, gets into a waiting car and later uses the victim’s credit cards.

“We are asking people to increase awareness across the city because criminals do move around,” the Vancouver Police Department tweeted.
