Letter: Protect women’s rights in sports

The Biden administration is proposing changes to Title IX which would punish states who have banned transgender participation in women’s sports. As the Lia Thomas case showed, as we barrel down the road of transgender ideology the advances women have made in equal rights over the last hundred years are getting eroded away, with sports being a rather visible example. Besides the blatant pushing of radical progressive views, how can the president amend by fiat a law passed by Congress?

While I think that people with gender dysphoria must retain equal civil rights, they cannot come at the expense of women’s rights. No amount of drugs or surgery can turn a man into a woman, yet the Biden administration continues to behave as if they can, providing yet another pathway for men to degrade, subjugate and erase women. Please write your senators and representatives to help put a stop to this.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
