“Union High students create lessons for younger students” (The Columbian, April 5) illustrated how our public schools create interesting ways to reach intergenerational students. The innovative teaching methods developed by the student tutors at Union High School, with guidance from gifted teachers, will benefit those elementary school kids for many years. The fact that they are working within the STEM curriculum enhances the potential for success in science, math and technology classes.
Having taught with Kelcey Burris, Shari Ridgeway and Adam Schmierer, I am not surprised at their ability to motivate and support the high school students in this endeavor. And to the young people highlighted: thank you for embracing the opportunity to make a difference. That is called leadership and those younger than you, appreciate you. Titan Power!
