Letter: Engage all Vancouver students

I really appreciate the response of the board of directors in The Columbian’s article about the proposed change to Vancouver Public School’s Highly Capable Program (“Vancouver schools’ proposal questioned,” The Columbian, April 14).

There must be more research and conversations with teachers and community members. Equity is about ensuring all students acquire the skills they will need after graduation. That said, the district must also strive to ensure that all students including high achievers are engaged and challenged.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
