Letter: Some senators work for solutions

Sad to see Congress standing in the way of climate action, even as the U.N. publishes a report that in eight years we will reach the point of no return. (“This Earth Day, Biden faces ‘headwinds’ on climate agenda,” Associated Press, April 21). Fifty-one senators have stood in the way of this and the renewal of the child tax credit that lifted 4 million children out of poverty, as well as housing and child care solutions.

Fortunately, Washington and Oregon senators are not a part of this problem, but working hard for these solutions. Take a minute to thank them (202-224-3121) and encourage them to keep up the good work. Ask your friends in other states to find out if their senators are standing in the way or working for equity for all with these important initiatives.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
