Letter: Biden’s not a leader

Interesting letter on Joe Biden supporting gas and oil drilling on April 17 (“Biden supports gas, oil drilling,” Our Readers Views), and I am wondering where he got his figures.

Biden ordered a pause on oil and gas leasing during his first week in office.

The Biden administration announced Friday, April 15, 2022, that it would resume lease sales for oil and gas drilling on federal land, though it plans to reduce the amount of land available significantly, and will increase charges to companies for the oil and gas produced on the land.

The Interior Department said in a news release that it will make available 144,000 acres, an 80 percent reduction from the acreage originally nominated. It will also begin charging companies royalties of 18.75 percent, up from 12.5 percent.

Also interesting is that Democrats are still battering President Donald Trump about any issue they can find to try to make Biden look like a leader. Sorry, folks, he just isn’t!

You can look at our economy, immigration uncontrolled to the point that some states are busing immigrants to Washington, D.C., to get Biden’s attention. Gas prices: that one I believe Biden blamed on Putin.
