Letter: Message offensive, sexist

By Lori Ferguson, Vancouver

I am writing to express my outrage over hate speech from Trump supporters. On Sunday, I observed Trump supporters selling flags near the I-5 offramp at 78th Street in Hazel Dell. One of the flags carried the message “Joe and his Ho have Gotta Go.”

If this type of speech is not considered a hate crime, it should be. It is sexist, demeaning and offensive to women. Such a comment would never be made about a male vice president. It is concerning to have this language displayed in a public location, where children are exposed to it. The offensive and sexist content of this message should not be tolerated.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
