A man was shot in the leg, and a child was injured by possible shrapnel in the leg Monday afternoon in Vancouver’s Rose Village neighborhood.

Vancouver police responded at 2:20 p.m. to 2011 E. 35th St., for reports of a disturbance with weapons.

Both the man and child were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police department spokeswoman Lt. Kathy McNicholas.

The suspect drove away from the shooting scene before officers arrived, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian.

Detectives were continuing to investigate at the shooting scene and hospital Monday evening.
