Letter: Herrera Beutler failure shows at polls

History may record Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s impeachment vote as courageous. But she consistently failed to call out clearly and loudly to her Republican colleagues and the voters (irrespective of political party affiliations) the long-standing and far-reaching consequences of Trumpism to our democracy. That failure was unconscionable and likely contributed to her inability to capture more votes from those who otherwise would not or could not see the long-term dangers associated with the extreme right wing of the Republican Party.
