A man was killed Thursday night after police say he broke into an east Vancouver house and was shot by the homeowner.

Vancouver police responded at about 11:20 p.m. to the 2900 block of Northeast 157th Court for reports of a residential burglary.

A man broke a second-story window and entered the house, according to a police news release. The homeowner confronted the burglar and shot him.

When officers arrived, they found the burglar dead, the police department said.

Authorities have not identified the man nor the homeowner.

The department’s Major Crimes Team is continuing to investigate.
